Emotional Struggles · Productivity

And then life…

gets in the way sometimes. I really have been meaning to get back in the studio this week but I’ve been procrastinating I think. I’ve got my next several kitty reference photos picked out and ready to go. I have started a self portrait painting by setting up a mirror, doing some preliminary sketching, stained my canvas and transferred a sketch onto the canvas. But I keep finding other things to do.

Some things are legit: I attended a Mid-Atlantic Pastel Society Meeting in Richmond on Friday and joined the Crossroads Art Center as a member so I could participate in their member shows as I am able. But I put in no studio time.

Saturday I did a lot of on-line research about galleries and upcoming national exhibitions that I might enter. I also put up a mess of green beans in the freezer, pickled some okra and processed some other vegetables from our garden. And we attended a party/potluck in the evening. But did no studio work.

Sunday my hubby and I celebrated our 18th Wedding Anniversary and traveled to Fredericksburg to pick up my two paintings on display in the LibertyTown Arts Workshop Plein Air Show. (I’m still tickled that my paintings were accepted.) And then we visited the MAPS pastel show at the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts which was very good. And then we went out to dinner. I won’t say where as we were not entirely happy with the service although the food (when it finally arrived almost an hour and a half after we arrived) was excellent. Again, I didn’t make it into the studio.

And today we worked together to get some much needed repairs and painting done around the house. But I never got into the studio.

There is still work to do around the house tomorrow (well, we have enough to keep us busy every day for the next 12 months, actually), but I WILL block out time to get into my studio because I must.
