I’m told by folks in the know that this is a rare bird for our neck of the woods. It is a Rose Breasted Grosbeak. Yet, three of them visited the feeders earlier this week and yesterday, there was a young male (per the on-line research I did with the Audubon Society web site) at the feeders yesterday morning (last 3 photos). So far, no females have been spotted. You can see from first photo to the last that the dogwood trees have leafed out completely in just a week.
In any case, I decided I needed to do a little painting of the first fellow who came around. I’ll do one of the juvenile later because he gave me some really nice poses.
