Spring may finally have arrived in the Northern Neck. Went out this morning on the deck with a cup of coffee and a little 5X7″ pastel board and my traveling pastel kit. When I started the painting, there was a wonderful pinkish glow on the horizon and the sun was just tipping across a maple tree across the creek making the whole thing light up with an orange cast. Forty-five minutes later, everything had changed. But it was a fun exercise. This could be a little study for a future painting in a larger size, certainly.
I think the birds were happy I finally went inside so they could enjoy their breakfast as they kept fussing at me from the trees around the house.
