Gobbler in the Cypress

DSC00431 As I was driving home one afternoon a few weeks ago, I looked across the farm field and saw a huge flock of turkeys hanging out near our orchard. I drove very slowly up the driveway and low and behold, there was this wonderful gobbler dancing for three or four hens. He had somehow enticed them away from the larger flock of about 20 where several males were entertaining. I stopped the car and started taking photos. Unfortunately, I did not get him with his tail up, but did snap this one as he ran under the cypress tree.

Until I started studying the photo, I never realized how iridescent and colorful these birds are. Had a lot of fun painting this fellow and will be on the lookout for additional opportunities to photograph and paint the wildlife around our house.
