Sitting at Cockrell’s looking back across the creek to Reedville, I took lots of photos of the whole community. Once home, I played with cropping, zooming and this is one section of the town that really grabbed my attention and demanded to be painted.
I was again experimenting a little with the paint and used no medium but only a little odorless terp to thin the paint when it needed thinning. Also working on a new surface for me which I really liked. It’s a prepared acid free Masonite panel. I need to take some of my canvas covered boards and gesso them and sand them half to death and see if I can smooth them out some. While texture can be nice to paint on some of the time, for me, right now, I like to be able to preserve a straight line from time to time.
