
The sun striking the edges of these trees at the base of the red rock outcropping is what caught my eye as we traveled along this road last summer. The greens were so bright, they almost seemed unreal. I think the red of the cliffs emphasized the brightness of the leaves in the sun.
But this painting, now cropped to a 9X12, started out quite a bit larger. But the focus seemed to get lost somehow. It was about these brilliant, florescent colors, not the rest of the background. It started like this:
